Wild Notebook: Bushcraft Log
Last updated: 3 November 2026
Nothing you put in this app leaves your device unless you send it yourself.
- No account, no sign-in, no adverts, no tracking and no analytics. We never see your logbook, and we never sell anything about you.
- Your projects, entries, notes, references, sketches, photos, files, voice notes and settings are stored only on your device.
- Your location is only looked up when you tap "Use where I am", and is kept only with that entry or note. The app never tracks where you go.
- The camera, photos and microphone are used only when you choose to add a photo or record a voice note.
- Reminders are set up by your device's own notifications. Nothing is sent to us.
- Backups and Word documents are made only when you ask, and go only where you choose to send them.
- Uninstalling the app, or More › Settings › Clear and reset › Factory reset, removes everything from your device.
Who we are
Wild Notebook is owned and run by Primal Forest, a sole trader business in Wales. Email: info@wildnotebook.co.uk. For more information about us, email us with your request. We are the "controller" for the small amount of personal information described below.
What we receive, and why
We only receive information about you if you choose to send it:
- Emails and feedback. Your email address, your name if you give it, and what you write. Used to reply and to improve the app (legitimate interests).
- The mailing list. Your name and email address, used only for the emails you ticked (consent). Unsubscribe any time by replying to any email.
- Supporting us. Google Play or the App Store takes your payment, not us. They give us a record of the sale (order number, date, item, price, country, and sometimes limited buyer details). Used to provide your thank-yous, handle refunds and keep the accounts the law requires (contract and legal obligation).
Things other companies may see
- The app stores. Google and Apple handle downloads, payments and crash reports under their own privacy policies.
- Updates. Copies installed from our test page check GitHub once a day for a newer version. GitHub sees your device's IP address. Nothing else is sent.
- Fonts. The web version may load fonts from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address. The installed apps include their fonts.
- Links and maps. Links, maps and what3words open in your browser or another app, under that site's own privacy policy.
- Our email. Our email provider stores the emails you send us, under its own privacy policy.
Some of these companies may store information outside the UK, using the legal safeguards UK law requires.
How long we keep it
- Emails and feedback: up to two years after we last hear from you.
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
- Sales records: as long as tax law requires, usually six years.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, to stop or limit using it, object to how we use it, or ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. We make no decisions about you by computer alone and do not use your information for advertising.
Complaints
Please tell us first at info@wildnotebook.co.uk. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you what we're doing about it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or 0303 123 1113.
Security
Your logbook is only as safe as your device: use a screen lock. Backup files aren't encrypted, so keep them somewhere private.
Children
The app is meant for adults and isn't aimed at children. If you're under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before you email us or join the mailing list.
Changes
We'll update this policy if the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
