Who it's for

For anyone building their bushcraft skills

Most bushcraft courses and awards ask you to keep a logbook of your practice. Bushcraft Log makes that easy, and gives you a record you'll be proud to hand in.

Students

Working towards a bushcraft award or competency course? Log your hours against your goal, skill by skill, and see what's left to do.

Instructors and assistants

Keep track of the sessions you run or help with, who was there, and your own continuing practice. Each logbook is kept separate.

Practising for yourself

No course? Keep a journal of what you tried, what worked and what you'd change, and look back on how far you've come.

What it does

Everything your logbook needs

Quick notes and full entries

Jot a line or two in the field while you remember, then turn it into a full entry later.

A timer for your hours

Start the clock when you begin and it counts your session for you.

Hours towards your goal

Set your goal and watch the ring fill. Hours are shared fairly across the skills in each entry.

Talk instead of typing

Record a voice note with cold hands or a full kit bag, and type it up when you're back.

Photos and sketches

Add photos of your work and draw labelled diagrams right in the app.

Where you were

Note the place, the weather, your role and who was there, so your record tells the full story.

Skill study notes

Keep your own notes, words to know, safety points and things to practise for each skill.

Print or save as Word

A clean, readable logbook with a summary of hours by skill, ready to print, email or hand in.

More than one logbook

A separate logbook for each course or project, each with its own goal, skills and roles.

How it works

Three steps to a logbook you're proud of

Set up your logbook

Name it, set your hours goal and choose the skills your course covers. It takes a minute.

Log as you go

Out in the woods, tap Log it for a quick note or start the timer. Add photos, sketches or a voice note.

Print or share

When it's time, preview your whole logbook page by page, then print it or save it as a Word document.

Wild Notebook is independent and isn't linked to or endorsed by any awarding or training body. Check your own course's requirements for what your logbook needs to show.

Our promise

Your logbook stays yours

Works without signal

Log in the middle of the woods. Nothing needs the internet.

No account

No sign-up and no password. Open it and start logging.

Kept on your device

Your entries, photos and recordings never leave your phone unless you send them.

Phone, tablet or computer

Use it where it suits you, and move it with a backup file.

Good questions

About Bushcraft Log

Is Bushcraft Log free?

Yes, everything you need to keep your logbook is free. You can choose to support us, and supporters get a few extras as a thank-you, like colour themes, banner pictures and stickers.

Will my course accept it?

Bushcraft Log gives you a clear, well-organised record of your hours, skills and sessions, with your own write-ups, photos and diagrams. It's independent and not linked to any awarding body, so check with your course what your logbook needs to show.

Does it teach me bushcraft?

No. It's a logbook, not a course. It's there to record what you learn from your instructor and your own practice. For safety, always learn skills like knife work and fire lighting with a qualified instructor.

What if I lose my phone?

Your logbook is kept on your device, so make a backup file now and then. You can keep it wherever you like and use it to move your logbook to a new phone.

Can I print my logbook?

Yes. Print preview shows your logbook page by page, with a summary of hours by skill and role, and your sessions written up in full. Print it, or save it as a Word document or as pictures.
